LEMAIRE IN TOKYO
Ebisu 3-21-1, Shibuya-Ku, Tokyo, Japon
Monday to Sunday, 11AM to 7PM
LEMAIRE opened its first flagship store in Tokyo on November 8th, 2024.
Nestled in a former private residence built in the 1960’s with an adjacent garden, the 170-square-metre boutique found its home in the serene neighbourhood of Ebisu, district of Shibuya. Against the backdrop of a fast-paced era, the new Tokyo flagship has been conceived as a tranquil space inviting guests to pause and to explore the layers of LEMAIRE’s vision.
The walls are covered with traditional Japanese plaster while Sudare bamboo blinds handmade with straw sit alongside sliding Shoji paper screens.
These endemic elements harmoniously co-exist with LEMAIRE’s signature fixtures such as the iconic Freud’s couch, reproduced in the living room with three vintage kilim rugs, handwoven wadded panels or abaca mats covering the first floor.
The Ebisu flagship has also been envisioned as a cultural intersection, welcoming exhibitions, concerts and creative experiments to gather LEMAIRE’s community.
The long-standing collaboration with Out of Museum goes on with an array of folk objects hand-selected by its founder Makoto Kobayashi.
