Music takes pride of place at LEMAIRE as a melodic echo of the collections’ timeless harmony. It ranges from cinematic soundtracks and live concerts at the runway shows, to collaborations that pay tribute to cult musicians, and iconoclastic playlists and compilations.
Guided by a desire to amplify raw aesthetics and artistic energies that go against the grain, LEMAIRE avidly explores avant-garde musical terrain in genres like electro, new wave, garage, and afro psych rock. Evocatively titled and curated with the help of sound designer Pilooski, the playlists are available below, on Spotify and can also be heard in LEMAIRE’s flagships and stores, from Paris to Tokyo.
THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE
This playlist was specially curated by Kali Malone for the opening of LEMAIRE’s Ebisu Flagship in Tokyo. Birdsong recorded by former Cabaret Voltaire member Chris Watson and passing planes blend with the spiritual resonance of soft ambient tones, punctuated by the crystal piano notes of Emahoy Tsege-Mariam Gebru.
VEGETABLE EATER
This playlist weaves a tapestry of soundscapes, where Francis Bebey’s wooden flute whispers through the atmosphere, alongside Rupert Clervaux experimental loops and Skeet’s gritty indie riffs. Drums, pipes and sanza set the pace for an organic selection filled with exploratory textures and remote rhythms.
